EMT 938

Bom dia
Como tenho poucos, comprei mais um gira-discos, o meu primeiro EMT, modelo 938.
Apesar do vendedor garantir que estava a funcionar quando foi feito o envio, muito bem embalado, quando o liguei, nenhuma luz acende, o prato dá apenas indicação de que quer rodar, mas não roda, e nos auscultadores consigo ouvir um humm inicial que se transforma num som de ondas que vai diminuindo de intensidade atá estabilizar.

Pelo que percebi só tem um fusível na entrada de corrente, ou terá mais algum?

No vinylengine há um post com a descrição de uma situação idêntica em que o comprador diz que "acertou o rotor e o prato começou a girar", não sei bem a que se refere.

Antes de mais, excelente compra.

Nem vou colocar a dar palpites porque não conheço o modelo, e muito menos o vi aberto.

Mas espero que seja uma coisa simples de modo a que consiga usufruir dessa maravilha.

Tem uma unidade de phono incorporada, suponho que só sirva para a cabeça instalada, uma EMT TSD15.

There is just one fuse in that unit but you can ascertain power is applied in many ways, even if the platter does not spin. The lift motor should still work. And the phono pre. And the lights under the switches. If you have an amp connected you should be able to hear the stylus being brushed per example.

Assuming it did previously work you should look at mechanical causes for the lack of power. Dislodged fuse or something wrong with the links in the voltage selector.

The screws are disengaged, the plate rotates manually.

There is only one fuse in this unit, but you can check that the power is applied in several ways, even if the plate does not turn. The lift motor must still run. And the pre phono. And the lights under the switches. If you have an amplifier connected, you can hear the stylus being brushed for example.

The plate does not rotate, does not turn on any lights and when connected to an amplifier it only makes "hummm" background noise, and the arm lift motor does not work either.

Assuming it worked previously, you should look at the mechanical causes of the power outage. Loose fuse or something wrong with the voltage selector links.
I've checked the fuse, it's perfect, I've tried to change it to 240volts, it doesn't work either.

The secondaries of the power transformer feed two separate rectifiers. One is mounted on the phono board and another one powers up everything else. Seems like the phono board is getting at least partially powered up, but the rest is not. There are plug in connectors on the power supply board (7938024), perhaps one of those has become loose and disconnected during transport. It seems very unlikely but it is place to start. Do you have a voltmeter? Can you verify the AC voltages getting in and the DC voltages coming out of the PS board?

the 3 cables that come from the transformer to the power supply go directly to a plug-in plug, go into a metal eye, but they are not welded, see photo.
